We already know when The House of the Dragon ends

The House of the Dragon.

We just said goodbye to the second season of the house of the dragon and things couldn't be more tense. So much so that everything indicates that the bulk of the war and therefore the peak of the rivalry between heirs is about to arrive, which brings us, of course, to the million-dollar question: How many more seasons is the story going to extend? Those responsible have already spoken out on the matter.

Spoiler warning: This article talks about what happened during season 2 of the series and, especially, in its last chapter. Don't read it unless you've already seen it all (or don't care to find out, of course).

The fourth season will be the last

We already know how long the Targaryen series will last. Max's incredible proposal, which many believed that he would not be able to even get close to his Game of Thrones sister, has its roadmap perfectly planned and it contemplates the existence of four seasons. Not one more nor one less.

It is true that At the time it was said that there would be five the seasons that would be part of this series, but Ryan Condal, showrunner and co-creator of the show, has confirmed in the middle Variety that there will be two more, being finally a total of four.

Given that the season 3 will begin filming in 2025 - it is already being written - and therefore will see the light (if nothing prevents it) in 2026, we must assume that the fourth will be recorded in 2027 and therefore should see the light in 2028.

Condal has also been asked if the third installment will have the same number of chapters than the second (eight), to which the showrunner has not been able to give a clear answer: «I have not had conversations with HBO about it. "I would just anticipate that the cadence of the show, from a dramatic narrative perspective, will remain the same starting in season 2." It will therefore be necessary to understand that this is the idea, although nothing is confirmed.

A very exciting end to the season

We can't fault this season 2 of the series too much. spin-off of Game of Thrones. For eight episodes, the series that tells us the ideas and comings of the Targaryens, has given us action, drama, intrigue and a lot of entertainment. The plots have lived up to expectations, the performances continue to be fantastic - what a characters They are giving us actors like Ewan Mitchell, Emma D'Arcy, Matthew Needham or Tom Glynn-Carney - and, in general, the development has been quite faithful to the book (with exceptions, ahem ahem).

El final has left us with a promise of a truce (which we already know will most likely not happen because Queen Green did not count on Larys Strong's plans for her son) and a good number of riders ready to mount their dragons. Not to mention all the sides more than positioned and with the order to take up arms, which predicts more than one hand-to-hand confrontation that should leave us with a fairly bloody season 3.

Anyone else looking forward to 2026?
