No matter how secretive Nintendo is at its headquarters, the danger of a leak the moment information leaves its doors is extremely high. And that is exactly what seems to have happened with the Switch 2 design, since the console supposedly seems to be already in the manufacturing process, and it is in that factory where the first most explicit details of the future console have been leaked.
A risky employee
The information comes through an accessories factory, as someone has managed to gain access to a case compatible with the new console, and from that accessory he has designed renders of what the console looks likeThe information first appeared on social media in China, and was soon posted on Reddit, a site that set off alarm bells and sparked a barrage of complaints from Nintendo.
In total there are about 10 rendered images that show the details, finding perspectives of the magnetic Joy-cons and the new main unit, which would have a larger screen (8 inches) than the current Switch model as previous rumors had suggested.
Prototype designs of the Nintendo Switch 2 have been shared online, and it seems to confirm a number of previous design rumors. (1/3)
A continuous design
If you were hoping for big changes to the console, the information shared seems to show that won't be the case. The new Switch 2 will look a lot like the current one, offering more rounded edges and corners on the joy-con side. These controllers will still have the same controls as always, although the novelty will be in a new method of attachment based on magnets. In the images you can see a third trigger, although it could well be the button for removing the magnetic controller.
Another detail that is being discussed is that the back of the device will feature the Switch logo along with a large 2, which would confirm the name of the console as Switch 2, thus keeping the usual name followed by the generation number. Other details remain to be known, such as the buttons, which everything pointed to being colored in the style of Super Nintendo.
When does it show up?
This leak has stirred up quite a bit of a hornet's nest, and Nintendo is already working on taking down all the replicas of the images that have been appearing on the Internet, especially on the social network X. Meanwhile, key information such as the presentation date and the launch date is still missing, although October is already sounding like the month chosen to broadcast a Nintendo Direct especially focused on the new console.
If so, we would finally be in the final stretch, having to wait only a few weeks to be able to clear up any doubts and learn the details that this new generation of Nintendo will offer us. Of course, pFor the launch it seems that we will have to wait until mid-2025, so don't celebrate your victory just yet.
