Lo han llamado el Netflix de los videojuegos, y razones no le faltan. Hablamos de uno de los servicios de más éxito de Microsoft, una modalidad de suscripción que está permitiendo a muchos usuarios descubrir infinidad de juegos, disfrutar lanzamientos exclusivos y recibir complementos extra solo con pagar un pequeño precio mensual. El videoclub de siempre, en formato digital
La propuesta de Microsoft con Xbox Game Pass es magnífica. Abonando una cuota mensual los jugadores podrán acceder a un inmenso catálogo de juegos formado por títulos de todas las categorías e incluyendo lanzamientos de Xbox Game Studios desde el primer día que se ponen a la venta. Esto significa que cuando se lance Starfield (Bethesda) en las navidades de 2022, podrás jugar a él sin coste alguno si cuentas con acceso a esta plataforma.
De todas formas, lo del término «Netflix de los videojuegos» se refiere más a la cantidad de contenido al que tenemos acceso todos los meses por un pago fijo y que, en este caso, no solo podremos disfrutar en local dentro de la consola o el PC, sino también en la nube, en streaming, con la misma rapidez que si decidimos ver una serie o una película. Esto es así porque en los últimos tiempos Microsoft ha invertido muchos esfuerzos para que podamos disfrutar de prácticamente cualquier título sin mirar la consola u ordenador que tenemos en el escritorio. ¿Juegos para siempre?
Algo que hay que tener muy claro es que los juegos no los tendrás siempre disponibles. Pasado un tiempo, algunos de ellos desaparecerán, así que más te vale haberles sacado provecho acabándotelos por completo, ya que de lo contrario tendrás que pasar por caja una vez queden descatalogados. Un ejemplo es el de GTA V. El juego llegó a Xbox Game Pass en enero de 2020 y abandonó el catálogo en mayo, cinco meses más tarde.
Recordad que todos los meses entran juegos nuevos, y salen otros para dar relevo que podéis ver actualizados en la página oficial de Xbox. A esto hay que sumar que si cancelas tu suscripción a Xbox Game Pass dejarás de poder acceder a esos títulos que hayas instalado desde el servicio, por lo que tendrás que renovar la suscripción o comprarlo por separado desde la Microsoft Store.
¿En Xbox y Windows 10 y 11?
La estrategia de Microsoft pasa por manejar dos plataformas: Xbox (tanto la nueva generación de Series X|S como la anterior One) y Windows (10 y 11). Gracias a Xbox Game Pass, los jugadores de PC también podrán disfrutar a infinidad de juegos desde su PC, y para ello necesitarán la suscripción de Xbox Game Pass para PC. Si juegas en consola, deberás hacerte con la opción de Xbox. Y si tienes las dos plataformas, no dudes que le sacarás mucho jugo a la modalidad Ultimate… que te explicamos aquí abajo.
Tipos de Xbox Game Pass
Existen varias modalidades de suscripción disponibles, y básicamente se diferencian por la plataforma, o plataformas, a la que van dirigidas:
- Xbox Game Pass (Xbox): Permite acceso al catálogo de juegos de Xbox Series X|S (optimizados y exclusivos) y Xbox One.
- Xbox Game Pass (PC): Permite acceso al catálogo de juegos de PC.
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Incluye las dos modalidades tanto de Xbox como PC, y además añade la suscripción de Xbox Live Gold y todos los juegos del Vault de EA Play.
¿Cuánto cuesta el servicio?
Dependiendo de la modalidad que elijas, Xbox Game Pass tendrá un precio diferente. Para las versiones básicas de PC y Xbox, la cuota mensual será de 9,99 euros para cada una. Si eres jugador de Windows, sobre todo, y quieres acceder al servicio, tendrás que pagar los 9,99 euros al mes que cuesta. Si lo tuyo es Xbox (con cualquiera de sus consolas compatibles), tendrás que hacerte con el otro plan al mismo precio.
Pero lo interesante está en la tercera modalidad, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, ya que permite disfrutar de las dos anteriores, además de incluir la suscripción a Xbox Live Gold, de forma que los usuarios no tendrán que preocuparse por cuotas extra para acceder a vtodos los modos multijugador de tus títulos preferidos: GTA Online, Red Dad Online, Halo, Call of Duty, etc. El precio de esta suscripción es de 12,99 euros al mes y supone un ahorro importante anual si sumamos todos los packs que incluye. Microsoft suele ofrecer promociones con las que es posible hacerse con un primer mes de Xbox Game Pass Ultimate por sólo 1 euro.
Xbox All Access
Tras el lanzamiento de la nueva generación, Microsoft ofrece a los jugadores la posibilidad de adquirir sus nuevas Xbox Series X o Xbox Series S con un pago aplazado de 24 meses y con Game Pass Ultimate incluido en los dos casos. Si estás interesado en hacerte con este plan y no tener que pagar los 499 ó 299 euros de golpe que cuesta cada una, estos son los precios:
- Xbox Series X + 24 meses de Game Pass Ultimate por 32,99 euros al mes durante 2 años.
- Xbox Series S + 24 meses de Game Pass Ultimate por 24,99 euros al mes durante 2 años.
Canjea códigos de Xbox Live y Xbox Game Pass
Una de las preguntas que podrías hacerte es que si teniendo una suscripción a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate es posible canjear códigos de meses de otros servicios. La respuesta es sí. La única diferencia es que el mes de suscripción en Xbox Gold equivale a 20 días de Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Juegos disponibles para jugar en la nube
Como os decimos, tenéis una buena parte de los juegos de Xbox Game Pass disponibles para disfrutar en la nube, y da igual si el título es exclusivo de PC, Xbox Series X|S o Xbox One, que la compatibilidad está asegurada mientras la plataforma que vayamos a usar tenga una forma de control (preferiblemente un gamepad de Xbox), una pantalla y conexión estable a internet.
Las plataformas en las que podéis jugar son las siguientes:
- Ordenador con Windows 11 ó 10
- Xbox One, Xbox One S y Xbox One X
- Xbox Series X y Xbox Series S
- iPhone o iPad a través de Safari
- Ordenador con macOS a través de Safari
- Dispositivo Android (móvil o tablet) a través de la aplicación oficial
Si nos encontramos en una Xbox One, por ejemplo, los títulos nos aparecerán en Game Pass de dos formas: por un lado con un botón para bajarnos el juego completo para instalarlo en la consola físicamente o, en caso de que no nos apetezca esperar a que se bajen todos los gigas necesarios (o no sea posible hacerlo porque necesita un hardware superior como PC o Xbox Series X|S), el icono de la nube para activarlo e iniciar la partida con nuestra ID de Microsoft.
Ni qué decir tiene que a medida que avancemos en ese videojuego a través de xCloud, todos los logros y partidas se sincronizarán y transferirán de forma inmediata en cuanto utilicemos una consola o un PC compatible. Es el caso, por ejemplo, de Microsoft Flight Simulator, que solo podemos utilizarlo en un ordendor con Windows o en las nuevas Xbox Series X y Xbox Series S, ya que en Xbox One (como os mostramos justo encima) solo está disponible para disfrutarlo en la nube.
