The next great thing about WhatsApp could be closer than you think and it has to do with protecting your privacy. According to the latest information, the platform is testing fingerprint authentication, so that you have an extra security key to enter the messaging application. This is how it would work.
WhatsApp armored with your fingerprint
Those in charge of putting us on the trail of this benefit have been none other than the people of BetaInfo. This popular medium, known for always anticipating the benefits that months later we will see on WhatsApp, has published screenshots that show that the platform is working testing fingerprint identification to give entry permission to the app.
The fingerprint authentication function is being tested in the beta version 2.19.3 for android devices and it will be offered as an option within the application menu for the user to activate or not as desired.
WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.3: what's new?
WhatsApp is finally working to implement the Authentication feature to protect the app using your Fingerprint, under development!
Info about other features are available in the article.https://t.co/yO6R6pOlsV- WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) January 8, 2019
You may not know it, but WhatsApp has already been working on something similar with the implementation of Face ID and Touch ID in the messaging application for iOS, a function, however, that has never become available -it seems that due to development issues that are still pending, they point to BetaInfo.
Now the courier service wants to do the same with Android using the fingerprint reader of the vast majority of terminals, with the difference that this time it does look like it's going to be released. It is even possible that it will be released for phones with the OS of the green robot -from Marshmallow onwards- and only then, a little después, ended up updating on iOS as well.
Once it reaches our phone, we can configure in the application menu. The function will be found within the privacy options (in Settings => Account), where a new section will appear called, at least in English, «Authentication»with the possibility of activating or not the «Fingerprint» -you have the screenshots of how it will look on these lines.
Once established, to be able to enter the application it will be necessary to use our fingerprint (several ones can be configured, either to use different fingers or to give access to other people) without which WhatsApp will not open. What do you think of this new feature? do you think you will use it?
