OnePlus steps forward and announces the availability of the Android 10 beta for these phones

OnePlus 7 Pro review

Yesterday was the coming-out of the expected Android 10 open beta. As usual, this came out officially for all Pixel terminals (which is what the house is for), however, there is another company that has also raised its hand and intoned "here I am". We refer to OnePlus, which has put the batteries and has also announced the availability for several of its phones.

OnePlus and the open beta of Android 10

We must admit that we did not expect this. In general, when an open beta of the version of Android is announced, it is usually within the reach of the Pixel phones. These will be the same ones that will later head the list at the time of the final update, since it deals with Google's own models and let's say they have that extra advantage over others.

Yesterday the last beta of Android 10 was announced and made available to Pixel owners, but they weren't the only ones. It turns out that OnePlus also announced that the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro can already access the update package and thus enjoy all the what's new in Android 10 -In a version that, despite not being the final one, is already quite stable.

And they won't be the only models from the Chinese house to savor these new android qualities this month. In their official forum they have also confirmed that the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T will also have access this same month of September, to the delight of its users.

How to update your OnePlus to the latest Android 10 beta

In case you have a OnePlus 7 or an oNePlus 7 Pro, you will be interested to know the followed to follow to install the Android 10 beta on your terminal. You must have at least 30% battery before proceeding with it and at least 3 GB of storage to avoid problems.

If you already had the developer preview from Android 10, it is likely that you have even received a message with the direct update via OTA (you will have to check it); if it is not the case and you are running Android 9, follow the following points:

  1. The first thing is to download the package (occupies 2,01 GB). In the following links you have the files (.zip) for the equipment: OnePlus 7 - OnePlus 7 Pro.
  2. Once downloaded, you don't have to open it. Go to the File Manager, look in Downloads for the package, select it and click Cut. After that, go to the Internal Storage directory (the root of the phone) and paste it there so that the terminal can find it.
  3. Now go to Settings and from there go to the System section (almost at the bottom).
  4. Tap on the last option you will see: “System updates”.
  5. Tap on the gear icon that you will see in the upper right corner and click on “Local enhancement”.
  6. Find the file you downloaded, tap on it and the installation will proceed.

Be careful, although the version is quite stable and its installation will not delete anything you have installed, we recommend, as always, that you do a Backup of the content of your terminal before proceeding to test Android 10.

You should also take into account that OnePlus itself warns that it is still a beta and that you could find some apps that are not yet compatible with the new version (in case you want to undo everything, OnePlus also offers the files of “back to Android 9” for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, whose installation procedure is exactly the same as that described a few lines above).
