Nintendo has taken advantage of The Game Awards gala to show new images of the super mario movie. The new clip is a fragment of the film itself, so this is the most detailed preview we've seen so far. And of course, we could not resist going through each of the images that appear to find references and details that you will surely like to discover.
New trailer with the first minutes of the film
As you can see below, the trailer allows us to see an excerpt from the film, quite possibly from its beginnings. The images let us see a disoriented Mario, since it is Captain Toad who helps him find the way to peach's castle. It is a scene that would be linked to the images of the first teaser, where Mario ends up in the Mushroom World and is found by Toad, who will take him to the castle.
Bonus level reward chests
In Super Mario 3, we could enter bonus levels where we were presented with 3 chests from which we had to choose one to reveal its interior. These three chests are depicted in the first scene of the trailer, where several Toads are extracting coins from the question cubes.
The Crazy Cup shop
The famous hat shop appears fleetingly in one of the shots of the trailer. Let's remember that this was the store where we could buy new hats for Super Mario in Super Mario Odyssey, and that it appeared as a large store in New Donk City.
The pixelated antique store
A very amusing wink is that they have set up an antique shop where pixelated objects are sold, making reference to the old 2D Mario games. We can see the hammer that he used in Donkey Kong or Yoshi's coin.
Very recognizable maps
Another of the images that has caught our attention is the appearance of some maps that are clearly references to the games. On the one hand, the map of stops of the transport between platforms is clearly a copy of the games, and the general map of the Mushroom Kingdom with the castle in the center is also reminiscent of the maps of Super Mario World.

One of the last scenes shows Mario traveling through a transparent pipe. These pipes are found in Super Mario 3D World, and they are especially striking, since they allowed Mario to move around inside for the first time.

As it happened in Mario 64, at the end of the trailer we can see how Mario appears from a pipe to stand in front of Princess Peach's castle. It will be here, as always, where his new adventure begins, so we are looking forward to knowing the plot of the film to find out what awaits us.
When is the Super Mario Bros movie released?
The Super Mario Bros. movie will hit theaters next on April 7, 2023 from the hand of Illumination, and it will be a world premiere that possibly breaks the occasional box office record.
