Bad news: go forgetting about the return of Mindhunter

Mindhunter

The followers of the fantastic Mindhunter they can be putting themselves in the queue of the victims of the day. It turns out that its director, David Fincher, has acknowledged in an interview that the chances of shooting a third season for the Netflix series they are quite rare. If there were already rumors that this could happen, this only confirms that production, most likely, has come to an end without finishing.

Mindhunter, a well built bet

The Mindhunter series is one of those projects that, without making much noise upon arrival, finally manages to win over a good and loyal audience. And it is that the series directed by David Fincher has always boasted of a temperament and own rhythm, in which everything is cooked very slowly to tell us and teach us the origin of criminology in the US during the 70s.

A tremendously uncharismatic protagonist but whom you end up appreciating and two very different companions who know how to contribute and balance the same scale have made the series of Netflix a peculiar and interesting product, where the script lines catch and the interpretations of some serial killers have been very (very) commented.

Mindhunter

The same and the care put into everything is a process, however it does not seem to have served to give continuity to the series. Its manager has just confessed that most likely we will not see a third season and we are always left with the question of how things went for the intrepid Holden Ford.

Mindhunter

Too expensive

Fincher hasn't minced around the interview granted to Vulture to promote his new (and curious) film Mank.  When asked about the series and if it had already come to an end -if you read the interview in its entirety, you will see that the director always refers to it as something from the past-, the director speaks very clearly:

Listen, for the audience you had, it was an expensive show. We talked [with Netflix] about “finishing Deficiency and then see how you feel," but honestly, I don't think we can do it for less than I did season two. And on some level, you have to be realistic […]

As you can see, David Fincher does not consider the series 100% closed, but given the coste so high that it has its realization and the audience it generates (it is not a Stranger Things or The Witcher) see very unlikely that an agreement will be reached to continue with a third season.

Mindhunter

We already know that Netflix is not at all sorry to conclude unfinished projects (generally, in addition, it tends to cut to the chase after trying two seasons) and the fact that the main actors of the series were released of their contracts after finishing season 2 was not exactly the best of signs. Coupled with Fincher's statements, it seems that things are quite clear: he has to forget about the series, keep it in memory and remember that one day they told us very truthfully how the origins from the behavior analysis unit at the FBI and from the patterns of psychological profiles of criminals. [Sigh].
