Finally someone from Wandavision talks about "the false Pietro"

It has undoubtedly been one of the great disappointments? in The end of Scarlet Witch and Vision, but until now we had not heard anyone responsible for the series talk about it. yes we talked about fake pietro or Westview's neighbor, who after a stellar appearance at the end of chapter 5, was losing steam until he became a character without any significance. have you wasted Marvel a golden opportunity? was it intentional? What purpose did its creators have in rescuing Evan Peters for this role if his finale was the one we saw? Well, finally a production manager has spoken about it.

The Quicksilver that never was

It is curious that one of the most epic moments of the series of Wandavision has become both one of the most controversial and disappointing. The Pietro's appearance in the middle of the series it was one of the most outstanding and commented moments of the marvelita title for all that it implied or could imply. For those who are a bit puzzled, we remember that Wanda's brother died in Vengadores: La era de Ultrón, although at that time the actor in charge of giving him life was Aaron Taylor-Johnson. In the ideal world that our protagonist recreates later in the TV series, his twin also has a place, although the one who appears on the scene is not Taylor-Johnson but Evan Peters.

This could be one more actor without much significance (being a world recreated by Wanda, there are things that might not exactly fit reality), however it turns out that Peters also played (quite successfully) Quicksilver in the X-Men, when these belonged to Fox -then the firm was bought by Disney. That made theories go off as soon as the actor appeared behind the door of Wanda and Vision's idyllic little house. Was it the first test of the multiverse? were the X-men already knocking on the door? Did we have the character back for a while?

Imagine the disappointment when none of that came to pass in the final episode: it turns out he was just a "fake Pietro," a Westviewer actually named Ralph Bohner who was being controlled by agatha harkness to confuse Wanda without any connection to all the past of the scarlet witch.

Why did those responsible for the series do this with the potential that the character had?

The focus was elsewhere

Until now no one had given explanations about the reasons that led those responsible for WandaVision to such a final turn. But luckily that has changed thanks to a recent interview with Jac Schaeffer, writer of the series, in which he basically confesses that the focus was elsewhere (in Wanda's duel and her process, not in bringing anyone back or raising the multiverse with it):

First, it was like "this is the metaist metashow in the metaverse." It's just meta, meta, meta, so it complemented the overall tone and aesthetic of the show, which felt corrective and great for the identity of the show... It really was about what was going on in Wanda's head and the idea that someone could show up and not look like her brother and she would accept it. What's going on with her in terms of her denial, her self-doubt, and her disorientation that Agatha can trick her like this?

Shaeffer doesn't want people to be disappointed by this:

I don't want anyone to feel like they were being pulled. I don't want anyone to feel cheated and of course I don't want people to feel disappointed by these things. I'd like to redirect attention to what the show is really about, what is significant about the series, and what it entails.

In short: there was never any intention to go further at the level of plot with this Quicksilver, although the nod to the multiverse was present, and in the end everything continued to focus on the world that Wanda had recreated.

It is time for us to accept it and turn the page.
