What is the Vesta project?
With a name that could well be an IKEA bookcase, Vesta is the code name given internally to one of the projects currently being developed in Amazon's research laboratories. The idea is to offer a robot that can move around the house and allow it to cover certain tasks, always relying on the Alexa assistant and integration with other devices that we have spread around the house.
More than a robot butler capable of doing the dishes or folding your laundry (you'll have to wait a long time to see this), Vesta is actually a hybrid between a roomba vacuum cleaner and an Echo speaker. This is also a similarity that Bezos himself dropped on his social networks several years ago, since he came to post on Instagram the photo of a roomba with an Amazon Echo taped together.
When will it go on sale?
Although we already knew about the existence of the Vesta project, the news now comes with information published by Business Insider, since they suggest that the project is having a hard time getting off the ground. According to the publication, the medium has had access to certain information, and the clues they have received in this regard reveal a certain imbalance in the development of the project.
After just over three years of development, they have suffered delays and changes in strategy that are shaking the idea of the robot, an android that according to the description of one of the employees would be something like a Fire TV tablet with wheels.
