After the renewal of its most popular gimbals among thousands of content creators, the new DJI RS2 and DJI RSC2, the Chinese company is ready to launch the second generation of its always attractive Osmo Pocket. DJI itself has already made it clear that we will see a new version of the Osmo Pocket on its website and will arrive on October 20. And yes, we know that it will be this and not another product because some images have also been leaking that rule out the possibility that it was the Osmo Action for example.
The second generation seems to simplify its name and will be called directly as DJI Pocket 2. Although the product concept will remain the same. In other words, a small stick-like device that has a three-axis mini gimbal on top with a camera reminiscent of the one they mount on their own drones.
And that is where the first change would arrive precisely. The new camera would be identical or very similar to the one seen in the DJI Mavic Air 2. That would mean I would have a 1/2 inch sensor, digital zoom options and higher quality in situations with slightly less light.
Then there would be the differences at the design level and that would also affect the very possibilities that this particular camera would offer. To begin with, the body would be somewhat larger, which would not be a big problem since it was already very small in its first generation.
Another detail to highlight is that now would include a small joystick with which to control the movements of the gimbal and that will be much more comfortable and practical than the previous control based on a rotary wheel that was not very precise and efficient.
Lastly, and related to sound, the future Pocket 2 would also include a wireless microphone that would be used to capture audio and a supposed voice control system that we imagine would be used to activate recording functions or similar. Although the latter can only be confirmed when it is officially presented.
In addition to all this, the DJI Pocket 2 would continue to have a USB C connection, a microSD card slot for storing the captured material and all the advantages at the software level with different follow-up modes, timelapse, etc.
Price and Availability
The price of new DJI Pocket 2 It hasn't been leaked yet, though it's supposed to cost about the same as the first version when it was released a couple of years ago. What you will have will be two packs.
A simpler one where only the device and the odd adapter plus the charging cable are included, and another more complete one where that wireless microphone with its own antecedent or deadcat to avoid the noise that the wind would generate when hitting against it.
Regarding its release date, it is assumed that there will be immediate availability from the next day October 20, date that is scheduled to be presented by DJI.
