It's been a couple of years since Sony released its WH-1000XM4 headphones. In recent months, many media specialized in audio have echoed that the new generation of high end wireless headphones from Sony, which could be very close. In February, a patent registered with the FCA already pointed out that the M5 would come out this year 2022. Now we have learned of a new leak in which many more details about this new generation of wireless headphones have been specified, such as their autonomy, some improvements and the final design of the device.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 can be seen in renders
The next generation of Sony's top-of-the-line headphones will be called the WH-1000XM5. In this aspect we have no news; Sony continues its legacy by naming more and more headphones with almost unpronounceable names. Their styles will also be maintained, since everything seems to indicate that they will be sold in color black and white, as it already happened with the WH-1000XM4. However, there are important aesthetic changes.
Continuous design, but with many improvements
In the FCA patent, everything seemed to indicate that the design of this new generation of headphones would remain almost unchanged. In the renders published by the German media Technology News it can be seen that the design is very similar to the previous generation, but with numerous modifications. The headband is now much thinner. It is padded on both sides and throughout the journey.
The headset also has quite a few changes. By anchoring the headband only in the upper part, the entire exterior design of this area is now completely smooth. This change could have an impact on better isolation when listening to music.
More autonomy than the WH-1000XM4
One of the data that has sounded the loudest in this leak is the autonomy of this new audio device. The Sony WH-1000XM5 will have up to 40 hours of battery life, 10 hours more than those of the previous generation. Apparently, the autonomy will not be affected excessively when we use the adaptive noise cancellation technology. The battery can be recharged using a USB-C cable and we will have it one hundred percent in about three and a half hours.
A new technology?
On the other hand, it is known that these new headphones will debut a new audio technology with specific drivers for each ear. However, this is the great unknown of the Sony WH-1000XM5. At the moment, not much more information is known about this detail, so we will have to wait for its official launch to find out all the news of this new generation.
When will we know more details?
Regarding the price and the release date, it has not been possible to obtain much more information about it either. However, many media suggest that the official launch should be within a few weeks, taking into account that the leak that we have just seen is quite important, so it would be strange if we did not hear from these headphones in a few days.
