Sony has included with its latest update a function that should have been present at the launch of its WF-1000XM4 and all models LinkBuds. And it is that the possibility of connecting two devices simultaneously was something that until now was limited for the largest of the family, but luckily the manufacturer has satisfied the users. They say that better late than never, but here Sony has not been completely slow.
The multipoint connection
Premiered on the WH-1000XM4, multipoint connection is a feature that allows the headset to keep two Bluetooth profiles active at the same time. Thus, you can be listening to music on one device and receive an incoming call from another without having to connect and disconnect the headphones from one device to another. or be using headphones on ps5 and answer calls when they come in.
This simultaneous management is something extremely useful for those who work on the computer and constantly receive calls on their mobile phones, since they are not forced to do without the audio from the work team, but they do not forget about possible incoming calls either.
Which Sony headphones will receive the multipoint connection?
In the coming weeks, Sony will release an official firmware for its products that will include the activation of the function. Not all of the manufacturer's headphones will receive the multipoint connection, so we leave you with the exact models:
- WF-1000XM4
- LinkBuds (WF-L900)
- Linkbuds S
These three models are the ones that will receive the function through an update that will be released in the coming weeks. The LinkBuds and LinkBuds S will have the update in November, approximately coinciding with the launch of the new LinkBuds S with Earth Blue, a new blue model that is characterized by offering a body made of recycled resins from recycled plastic from water dispenser bottles.
The highest-end model, the WF-1000XM4, will not receive the update until weeks later, we do not know if during the month of December or already entered 2023, since Sony only talks about "this winter".
How to update the headphones
To install the new system update to your headphones, you need to use the official app Headphone Connect from sony. This is the application compatible with Android and iOS that allows you to adjust parameters such as Voice to Chat, noise cancellation mode and automatic adjustment of noise cancellation depending on where we are or what we are doing. Remember that by using this application you can access all the functions of the product, and we can also define the broadcast quality that we want to obtain for reduce headphone latency.
When you plug in the headphones, the app will automatically detect the version you have installed and immediately check if there is a new firmware to install. As soon as the update is available, the application will suggest that you install it on your device, so you just have to accept and the process will start immediately.
You must take into account that this update process takes a long time to complete (sometimes between 30 and 40 minutes), so do not dare to do it at times when you are in a hurry or depend on the headphones. Save it for a quiet time when you don't need to be listening to music.
