Xiaomi has launched through its startup incubator a small bluetooth speaker which includes a new functionality that could be the definitive seed for a new generation of smart devices from the brand. You want to know why? Well keep reading.
a pocket speaker
The first thing that will catch your eye about this Xiaomi Xiao AI Portable Speaker is its size. And it is that when we say that it is a pocket speaker it is because you can actually keep it in one of the pockets of your pants, since its size is extremely tiny.
These dimensions have not deprived it of including a Bluetooth 5.0 connection with which to connect to your mobile phone, as well as placing a rear USB-C port to carry out the tasks of recharging the internal battery. The speaker is quite simple, but with the price it offers you can not ask for much more.

The most interesting detail comes, however, with its intelligent options, since it is compatible with the Xiaomi assistant, XiaoAI, to offer voice control of functions such as a countdown, playing music, knowing the weather, calling a contact, and all those typical tasks of voice assistants. The problem is that the voice assistant is that of Xiaomi, and therefore it is in Chinese, so forget about using it in Spanish.
Is Xiaomi preparing something?
After the launch of the new Mi Band 5, this speaker continues to expand the list of devices with the assistant XiaoAI, so Xiaomi's commitment to the virtual assistant remains firm. Currently you can find a large list of xiaomi smart speakers on its website, but if there is something that could be really interesting, it is that the rumors of compatibility with Alexa will be confirmed.
Weeks before the presentation Mi Band 5, some rumors suggested that the international version would be compatible with the Amazon assistant. As of today there is nothing confirmed, but with devices like this pocket speaker, Xiaomi could get an absolutely ridiculous market share if they managed to offer Alexa on their devices, since, with their prices, they would become almost unbeatable smart devices.
How much does the Xiaomi XiaoAI Portable Speaker cost?
As you are surely imagining, the final surprise of this product is in the price. And is that this tiny smart speaker costs only 49 yuan, or what is the same, 6 euros to change, a figure that in international distributors could stay at just over 10 euros. The problem as we say is the compatibility of the assistant with other languages, something that limits its use a lot, so we will have to wait and see if Xiaomi presents some kind of collaboration with Alexa to see this device (and many others) with different eyes.
