Taking advantage of the launch of Street Fighter 6, Razer has introduced its new Kitsune Arcade Controller, a controller specially designed for fighting games with which to perform ultra-fast combos and movements without complications. However, behind this classic arcade controller there is a very obvious peculiarity that will not leave anyone indifferent: does not have joystick of control.
The arcade controller that only has buttons
Beyond the disco lighting system to which the brand has accustomed us, the main peculiarity of this Kitsune Arcade Controller is that it does not have one of the main elements that have given life to this genre in arcades. We are obviously talking about joystick, a control element that made life easier for many players and that today is a component that the most advanced in the field prefer to avoid.
The reason is none other than the delay caused by having to move the joystick from one side to the other, a few milliseconds that are crucial in professional tournaments and that many players prefer to save with faster and more effective methods. This is how hitboxes were born, controllers made up solely of buttons that allow an immediate response to each action.
Hence, Razer opts for a hitbox-like design in your arcade controller, to be able to offer the best possible control focused on the speed of the actions. And it is that the manufacturer has used optical switches so that each press is as fast as possible, obtaining incredibly fast actions.
A very portable arcade
The advantage of eliminating the joystick and having only optical buttons is that the thickness of the device is extremely thin, which makes it a fairly easy peripheral to transport, something that is not usually the case with professional arcade controllers.
This Razer Kitsune also has PlayStation certification, so it will be an official controller compatible with PS5.
Price and release date
Unfortunately, Razer has preferred not to comment on the price and release date of the product, so it cannot be purchased anywhere at the moment. The product will arrive with a completely black version, but it will also be available in two promotional versions of Street Fighter with Cammy and Chun-li as the protagonists.
