Grand Thef Auto Online will stop working on PS3 and Xbox One as of September 16, as the company itself has reported through an official press release. The company has thought it appropriate to put an end to a service of 8 long years that today maintains a fairly low share of users compared to those present on PS4 and Xbox One, and if we take into account that we are very close to receiving the new version for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, it is more than reasonable for the servers to take a breather and focus on the new avalanche to come.
And it is that in the end everything is money, and Rockstar needs to focus its resources on what is truly important and demanding.
GTA V will continue to work
Something that must be clear is that the story mode of GTA V will continue to work, obviously. Everything that has to do with the story and the single player mode of the game will work as the first day for obvious reasons, however, everything related to the Rockstar Games Social Club will be part of the blackout, so the daily registration, the game Multiplayer and leaderboards on PS3 and Xbox 360 will stop working. This will also imply that the Shark Cash cards will stop being sold, although his disappearance will occur earlier, since they will no longer be available on September 15.
GTA… and Max Payne 3 and LA Noire
The Rockstar Games Social Club outage drags down other games as well, as Max Payne 3 and LA Noire will also lose their social features, online play, and leaderboards on PS3 and Xbox 360. Similarly, progress in the mode's story campaign will continue to work on all platforms.
