This, which seems basic today, was one of the reasons why many users did not just launch when making an advance reservation in the Nintendo eShop. Because the moment they pressed the button, the charge on the card was instantaneous and with no option for a refund. Fortunately, it has changed.
Nintendo changes its refund policy
Nintendo has always been a very particular company, with fixed ideas and a bit stubborn on certain issues. This is something that virtually no one who follows the news of the company to a greater or lesser extent will take it by surprise. One of those controversial points has been the issue of returns or refunds in online sales.
With the jump to digital purchases, many platforms began to offer identical or similar rights to those that can be enjoyed when purchasing a physical product. It is true that certain limitations must be applied here due to the different nature of the product, but something that seemed basic was offering the Possibility of returning an item and obtaining a refund full thereof.
This Nintendo did not allow. If, for example, you made a reservation in advance for an upcoming release, they would charge you the amount instantly. Luckily this has just changed. The company has announced that As of September 1, advance orders will not apply any charge to the card up to seven days before launch. This means that if for any reason, whatever it is, you regret it and prefer not to end up buying, you can cancel. For this, the only condition is that you do it before those seven days.
A change to encourage online purchases
This change in Nintendo's reservation and return policy is something that should have been around for a long time in the first place. Because the rest of the platforms were doing it and it was something basic that had to be offered.
On the other hand, because it can be a good way to boost sales through your online store. And it is that neither the user will have to part with the amount at that time of the previous reservation nor will he fear in the event that he can change his mind for some reason.
