Do they sound good? They sound amazingly good. Better than the Sony WH-1000XM4, considered "its great rival"? I couldn't tell you there. I would dare to say that the sound of the AirPods Max is slightly cleaner and clearer in the treble, but I am not a sound expert who knows how to differentiate all the nuances that there may be in these high-end devices. What I am clear about is that comparing them or not, they will leave you satisfied because the audio quality is fantastic.

And as for its battery, they meet the times promised by Apple quite well, the biggest problem that I see being the fact that they can never be completely turned off. how do you read The moment you take the headphones off your head, the Max enters a sleep state with a very low consumption which is even accentuated after a while in the case (they go into an ultra-low power state), but there is no way to ever "turn them off" completely.
I have left for the end of this review what has undoubtedly surprised me the most about these Max and it is the subject of the Noise Cancellation and, above all, in his way "transparency". Not so much the first, which does it very well but whose insulation is just as good as that of the Sony, as the second: that moment when you press its button and activate the passage of outside noise. Seriously, it's a real pass.
Surely you know that with the Sony, to let the sound through, you have to put your hand to the right earphone, something that activates its "transparency" mode. I have always thought that the function is well executed but it is true that many times I have found myself having to take them off to maintain a fluid conversation because no matter how much it facilitates that external sound, it is not close enough or 100%. With the AirPods Max the same thing doesn't happen to me.
Pushing her button is practically making me feel like i didn't have them on. You know the mic is on, because eventually there's some (very, very soft) touch canned into what you hear, but ultimately what you're left with is super loud, crisp, clear sound that lets you carry on a conversation. complete and comfortable without having to take them off at any time. It is by far the feature that has surprised me the most and I assure you that no matter how much I explain in these lines, it is something that must be tried to understand it.
To buy or not to buy AirPods Max?
As you have probably already noticed, I did not want to dwell on the price of the AirPods Max. After all, we all know his label ($629) and at this point discussing it I think is absurd. Is it an expensive product? Yes. Is it a quality product in which you are also paying for design and branding? Well too.
My recommendation in this sense is that if you do not have a special predilection for the brand, the design does not attract your attention and you are looking for something more balanced quality/price, opt for the WH-1000XM4 (and even the WH-1000XM3), which remain my go-to headphones to recommend to anyone who asks me about quality, good noise-canceling wireless on-ears.
