There are a lot of superheroes that have become famous in recent times thanks to the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And it is that this film saga is a specialist in turning very secondary characters into authentic rockstar world renowned This is the case, for example, of Ant-Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Shang-Chi or the Eternals, although one of the pioneers in this jump to stardom was thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy. Or don't you remember their leader, Star-Lord, the greatest space heartthief in existence?
Although he is not one of those heroes that everyone took for granted that he would reach that MCU, once in him he has generated an ardent army of fans around him who revere him like he was Iron Man or any other of the original Avengers. So we have set ourselves a complex and difficult challenge and we are going to answer all the questions that may arise about his origins, his powers, his love affairs and, of course, those superhero teams in which he has participated since he left school. The origins of Peter Quill
Our story begins long before Star-Lord, ten years ago. J'son, an alien with a human appearance, has an accident and crashes on Earth for which he is rescued by a certain Meredith Quill. Both, over time, develop a loving relationship at the same time that he repairs his ship. But one day he is forced to rush back into space to fight a bloody intergalactic war against the Badoon, unaware that Meredith is pregnant.
As if that were not enough, when Peter Quill, our Star-Lord, was young, he saw his mother killed by the Badoon, an alien race that sought to end J'son's lineage. Peter had time to find his father's elemental pistol, which allowed him to finish off the invaders just as they were destroying him all. His eagerness to demolish to the ground any vestige of Star-Lord's father's estate will allow him to lead the Badoon to believe that he, too, was killed in the incident, allowing him to leave without expecting pursuit.
Over time Peter would get into NASA and become an astronaut. During a trip to space, your ship will be damaged and you will be left at the mercy of the void beyond the confines of the Earth. Luckily, the Ravagers, a band of looters led by Yondu, will find him and it will be they who end up transforming our earthly Peter Quill into a space legend who responds to the name of Star-Lord.
The Star-Lord comics
Created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan in 1976, it first appeared in Marvel Preview #4 in January of the same year. During the decades after its creation, the character did not have a great presence in the comics, making sporadic appearances in few comics. However, the great Chris Claremont would be in charge of restoring his pulse through, once again, the Marvel Preview. Although it would not be until 1982 that the character would have one of his most important turning points, when he joined the Holy Trinity of the X-Men (Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin) to write one of the specials that today are considered anthological.
During the first years of the XNUMXst century it continued in the background, although That all changed in 2013 when a new series of Guardians of the Galaxy Went on sale as a marketing strategy to promote the film that would be released in 2014. As of the arrival of that film in theaters, fate began to be more favorable for our Star-Lord, becoming a superhero of first level within Marvel comics, rivaling in importance and popularity with great totems such as Iron Man, Thor or the X-Men.
The character's stories, as is evident, are mainly focused on exploring the galactic side of the Marvel universe, facing aliens, evil robots, crazy titans and a very long etc. of villains who in recent years have mixed with others for requirements of the scripts of that UCM that we already have navigating its phase 4 (that of the Multiverse).
Do you have super powers?
Star-Lord's abilities are not much different from the average human, however, his strength lies in his mastery of close range combat, his great handling of firearms and another set of non-lethal powers such as his great skill in conflict mediation (yes, his diplomacy), thanks to the knowledge he possesses of the customs of different space civilizations. Also, he has a telepathic connection to his ship (the Milano) as well as his infamous aelementary signature, who is capable of projecting one of the four elements of nature onto the enemy: earth, water, fire and air. At one point in his history, and after being seriously wounded and having lost all his weapons and even the Milano, is equipped with numerous cybernetic implants that will allow you to be much more efficient in combat. - Kitty Pryde, That you can see in a cartoon from the comics right here above, she had a relationship with Star-Lord for a while while she was part of the X-Men. After meeting on Earth, the two were a couple for several years. What's more, during that period Peter decided to retire from the superheroic life and left all the junk to Kitty herself, who adopted the role of Star-Lord, even joining the Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Gamora is another of Star-Lord's loves and the one that practically everyone who has seen the MCU movies knows. One of the deadliest women in the universe and adoptive daughter of Thanos, she was the first Quill truly loved.
A hero with teamwork
Our intergalactic hero has almost always belonged to the same team, the Guardians of the Galaxy, whose most common lineup also includes Gamora, Groot, Rocket, and Drax, although sometimes we find other characters like Mantis, Nova and even Iron Man. These heroes are dedicated to saving the innocent people of the different planets that do not have their own protectors, so their scope of action is very wide.
