The duration of the chapters of Stranger Things 4 will surprise you

Season 4 of Stranger Things.

In just over a month the fourth season of Stranger Things. One in which it seems that the action is going to go crazy and the strange events that the once peaceful town of Hawkins suffers will already affect everyone who lives in it. The diaspora seems assured, as well as the return of some characters that we thought had disappeared, and even of some events that we have already seen. What is this mess?

Make lots more popcorn

The first thing you should know is that if you are one of those who eat popcorn while enjoying an episode of Stranger Things, you are in luck because from Netflix they have made the creative decision to go one step further in its duration and instead of the 35-55 minutes that we can find (more or less on average) in the first three seasons, with the new consignment of deliveries that time will be extended, at least, to a full hour. That is, more than 60 minutes.

This is how its creators have revealed it when they affirm that all the episodes that we will have in the fourth season (remember that it will be divided into two parts) they will be the longest seen so far in its history. In any case, this information practically confirms some statements made a few days ago, granted by the brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, in which they already stated quite emphatically that they were going to follow this policy of extending the duration as much as possible and , obviously, they will leave them from the platform: «We do not believe that [season 4 has] an episode of less than an hour […] Even in the first season there were some that lasted like 35 minutes. You forget about it. This season they are very long, so I think it's almost double the length of any previous season. That is one of the reasons why it has taken so long."

Goodbye Hawkins, here comes the scattering

Not only is the length going to change with longer episodes, but the series itself is going to turn in this penultimate season towards unexplored territory as is the dispersion. According to its own creators, we are facing one of the most "epic" batches of chapters of all that we have been through. Stranger Things, something that the Duffer brothers come to compare with Game of Thrones, the famous HBO Max series: «We jokingly call it our season of Game of Thrones because it's very spread out, so I think that's what's unique or most unique about the season."

So much so that “Joyce and the Byers family left at the end of season 3. They are in California; we always wanted to have that suburban aesthetic ET the alien], which we finally managed to do this year in the desert; and then we have Hopper in Russia; and then of course we have a group that remains in Hawkins. So we have these three stories, all connected and interwoven, but with very different tones."

Clearly its creators never wanted to hide what the influences were eighties who have turned Stranger Things in a global phenomenon, followed by both children and adults almost equally, and for this reason they remember that when they presented the project to Netflix they focused on creating a very easy-to-understand analogy: "we present it as if they were children... Los Goonies en NA«. The problem is that now those children are gone and they are practically adults so... how will they solve it?
