Con la llegada de los modos multijugador online fueron muchos jugadores los que por fin pudieron jugar con conocidos que se encontraban en otras ciudades o países, sin embargo, no todos podrán jugar con sus amigos por una sencilla razón: tienen otra videoconsola diferente a la tuya. Este es un problema con el que hemos convivido durante años, pero poco a poco estamos poniendo fin a este problema de bandos gracias a la llegada del cross-play.
¿Qué es el cross-play?
El llamado cross-play, o juego cruzado, es la tecnología que permiten intercomunicar a jugadores de plataformas diferentes para que puedan jugar a un mismo juego sin importar qué consola tengan. Unos de los grandes abanderados de esta función son Fortnite y Rocket League, que incluyeron los modos de comunicación de plataformas con grandes resultados.
Así, los jugadores de PS4 pudieron jugar por fin con los de Xbox One y viceversa, pudiendo también participar con otros jugadores de Nintendo Switch, PC e incluso dispositivos móviles. Poco a poco, los desarrolladores se sienten cada vez más interesados en este tipo de funciones, ya que a fin de cuentas cubren las necesidades de muchísimos usuarios y hacen la comunidad más grande y universal.
